WE DESIGN BEIRUT
TOTEMS OF THE PRESENT & THE ABSENT
Set in the historic Villa Audi, “Totems of the Present & the Absent” pays tribute to Gregory Gatserelia, visionary curator and founder of SMO Gallery. The exhibition features works by emerging and established designers from Lebanon and beyond, exploring presence, memory, and legacy. Held in a rare Beiruti architectural gem blending Ottoman and European influences, the show reflects Gregory’s lasting impact on the region’s creative landscape.
The Long Wait
Beneath it, stillness and time suspended. Grief becomes tactile, woven into wicker. The cord lingers tracing those who endure, between collapse and rebirth, absence and return.
The Conversation We Never Had
Two forms lean toward one another connected, yet apart. The cord holds a quiet tension between memory and release, a soft confrontation with what remains unsaid.
The Cut – End of Exhibition
Every cord must loosen, every thread find silence.
At the close, the cord is ceremonially severed fragments sent into the world like Beirut’s children: never ending, only transforming.
